MCS 4K loved learning about pizza! The students made pretend pizzas with construction paper, had a pizzeria in the kitchen center, and made their own individual English muffin pizzas for snack. The school hallway smelled delicious and had the other grades wondering what 4K was up to this week!

MCS 4K had a lovely time celebrating Valentine's Day this week. Students created heart projects, cut out hearts using fun edged scissors, and had buddy time with the 5th grade students.

🐋 What a WHALE of a Night! 🐳
Not even the bitter cold could keep our amazing community away! Last night, over 160 students and family members joined us for our "Whale of a Habitat Night," and the energy inside the school was incredible.
From stepping inside a massive life-size inflatable whale to investigating ancient whale fossils, our students truly dived deep into the wonders of the ocean. The evening was packed with hands-on learning, including:
🦁 A delicious Safari Dinner to fuel our explorers.
🎨 Creative animal drawings, crafts and live animals!
🏆 A high-energy Habitat Quiz competition.
🔍 Interactive learning stations throughout the building.

Learning is delicious! Literacy, math, science, history, geography, and life skills never tasted as good as our cooking projects this week! Students devoured everything from plate tectonics to ancient grains!

Rain and mud won't stop MCS 4K from having fun! Indoor playground was a blast thanks to bean bags, hoops, stepping stones, and a record player. Mrs. Gagnon was inspired by a former colleague, Mrs. Blattner, to play records in the classroom. The 4K students loved learning about the record player!

Merrimac is excited to join Snapshot Wisconsin in tracking and identifying wildlife in our school forest and prairie! Students took advantage of the snow cover to see where the most tracks intersect and plan the perfect placement for the camera.

MCS 4K was full of giggles and sugar this week. Students loved making 5 varieties of cookies with the help of volunteers. They also listened to many different versions of the story the Gingerbread Boy. The weather was perfect for sledding after all the cookie baking!

A favorite MCS 4K tradition took place this week...The 4K Feast! Each 4K student brought food to the feast to share. The children served themselves, were allowed to use butter knives to cut, practiced their manners, and loved sitting at our long "family" table.
