🎭✨ MCS students in grades 3–5 enjoyed the Sauk County Schools Renaissance Faire Field Trip Day at Circus World! The experience, hosted by Shakespeare on the Edge, connects beautifully to our Amplify language arts curriculum and literally brings knowledge to life for our learners!🌟

Farm week was so much fun in 4K, it wore out the students! Grandpa Palmer brought a tractor and all the students climbed up to check it out. They also made very colorful cow puppets and enjoyed singing Old McDonald had a Farm.

In response to the high temps forecasted - and in order for the Marching Band to stay fresh for the game - there will not be a performance for the students preceding the Homecoming Parade as originally planned.

While reading a story during literacy about a Cuban-American family, the fifth graders made and enjoyed Cuban Carne Puerco over rice, just like the characters in the story. Our adventurous fifth grade gourmets learned new cooking skills and expanded their palates. Yum!

Serious salad! After growing salad greens in the school Tower Garden, the fifth graders harvested and prepared the greens for a salad. Then they invited the fourth graders over to learn how to make homemade Maple Vinaigrette and share this bountiful harvest.

🚨 Calling All Parents & Community Members! 🚨
The Merrimac Milers Running Club is off to a fantastic start, with 17 energetic young runners! 🏃♂️🏃♀️ But we need YOUR help to keep the momentum going! 🙌
We’re looking for volunteers to help supervise and monitor the running route during our club meetings (as Superintendent Wright can't make all of the practices with his busy schedule!). No running required—just a friendly face to ensure the safety and fun of our kids!
📅 When: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 PM
📅 Dates: Now through October 23rd
🏁 Final Race: October 29th around the Merrimac community!
If you're interested in volunteering, please reach out to Matt Bell at matthew.bell@saukprairieschools.org
to get connected and set up as an official volunteer. 📨
Let’s make this a fun and safe experience for our young runners! 💪

Kindergarten had a taste of our Stone Soup that students made from our garden produce! Yum!
With some of the extra potatoes, fifth graders created a circuit to power a light and proved that plants store energy from the sun through photosynthesis. Learning isn't small potatoes around here! #AgInTheClassroom

From seed to snack 🌱🥕🍲
Merrimac students planted veggies in the spring, and this fall’s harvest was overflowing!
To kick off Learning Buddies, the whole school read "Stone Soup" together, after the teachers modeled how.
Each classroom tossed in their own special ingredient, and the soup bubbled away all day long. By dismissal, everyone got a warm taste of teamwork (and veggies!). 💚
Huge thanks to our regional libraries and our amazing librarian, Mrs. Breunig, for making sure every pair of buddies had a copy of the book!
And an extra shout-out to our summer Garden Guides and MCS Families who kept the garden growing all summer long—we couldn’t have done it without you! 🌻🌞

🍎 Apple Week at MCS! 🍎
What a week! Students harvested apples from our very own school orchard and turned them into delicious foods and creative crafts. On Friday, everyone had a chance to help press apples into cider—with a special assist from Superintendent Wright!
A huge thank you to the many families and local orchards who donated apples to make this week such a success. Our students had a blast learning, tasting, and creating together. ❤️

Heavy harvest! As third graders they planted watermelons seeds. Today as fourth graders they harvested huge watermelons ready to eat! The biggest melon took teamwork to carry and nearly broke the scale!
